Approximately 534 million people are living in the Latin America/Caribbean region. One of the main issues within Latin America is the amount of crime. Currently, Latin America is working to overcome the barriers of violence in the homes, schools and workplaces of children and people.  Brazil, one of the most criminalized countries in the world, is considered one of the top 20 countries with the highest intentional homicide rates.

Unfortunately among crime, drug use and distribution is an ongoing issue. The common drug, cocaine, found in Brazil, is one of the underlying problems of crime occurrences. These crimes in Latin America mostly consist of homicide, muggings, robberies and kidnappings.
